My name is William Thomas Orr, and I’m a 2nd year at Rochester Institute of Technology. I’m majoring in Applied Networking and Systems Administration and Computer Science, and I’m a sysadmin for Computer Science House.
I run Debian and Gentoo on my computers, Debian for all my servers (including this one) and Gentoo for my desktop. I maintain my own network for myself, that serves this website, my mail for this domain, NIS, Kerberos, automated network backups, DNS, and DHCP. I run these all behind an OpenBSD router/NAT firewall. In addition to that, I help maintain a variety of servers for Computer Science House that run these same services and more.
Other than computer, my interests include movies, hanging out with my friends, and music. I’ve played the trumpet for over 10 years, and I’ve just begun picking up bass guitar. Also love listening to music, particularly of the indie persuasion. I’m pretty open to good new music, and will give most types of music at least a bit of a chance.
That’s really about it, just a typical college student.
